The Presbyterian High School Chinese Orchestra (PHSCO) has a rich history spanning over 19 years. Innovation and cultural preservation have the main features of the development of PHSCO.
In 2019, many PHSCO members participated in the Singapore Youth Festival (SYF) Arts Presentation for Chinese Orchestra this year and the team was conferred Certificate of Distinction. On campus, the PHSCO actively participates in on-campus activities such as Chinese New Year, Thanksgiving concerts and Teacher’s Day performances. These activities not only provide opportunities for members to perform, but also help them sharpen their musical skills. Some of our students have progressed from knowing next to nothing about their instruments to attaining Grade 8 in their respective domains.
In addition, PHSCO is also actively involved in community activities. This year, we visited Dover Park Hospice. Such performances give members the opportunity to get in touch with the community, so that students can truly feel the meaning of the phrase, "It is more blessed to give than to receive."
