National Civil Defence Cadet Corps (NCDCC)
National Civil Defence
Cadet Corps (NCDCC) is a National Uniformed Group under the purview of the
Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Home Affairs, Singapore Civil Defence
Force.
NCDCC believes in
developing and empowering our youths to be active & concerned citizens with
life-saving skills. NCDCC began its journey in 2005, with the focus to develop
greater awareness of civil defence in our cadets and prepare them with the skills
to respond effectively to emergencies at home and abroad. The attitude of
readiness against adversity and practical skills which are critical in the face
of danger and emergencies are life-long capabilities that our young civil
defence ambassadors can have.
NCDCC’s motto of “We Learn, We Lead, We Serve”, in alignment to the 3 big ideas in Character and Citizenship Education: “Identity, Relationships and Choices”, well encapsulates the journey of NCDCC cadets into three phases:

“During the September holidays, the unit sent me for the
yearly Unit Drill Instructor course held in HQ. There I learned many new drills
and learned how to conduct a lesson. It was a great experience as I was
able to make new friends with cadets from other schools. This course
required cadets to be thoroughly tested before they are accredited for
completing the course. The most memorable part was when during the Passing Out
Ceremony where we were given the lanyard which signified that we are all Unit
Drill Instructors.”

“NCDCC has provided me with countless opportunities which
allowed me to bond with my squad mates as well as cadets from other schools.
For instance, participating in the National Day Parade 2019 was such a
privilege for me and two other cadets. Thank you NCDCC for these memorable
experiences, it has truly shaped me into becoming a more disciplined and
confident person.”

“There are three main specialisation courses in NCDCC,
Fire Safety, Medical Response and Urban Search and Rescue (USAR). I had the
opportunity to take part in the USAR course, which benefitted me in learning
and experiencing more about the DART team in SCDF. I appreciate how NCDCC has
made my CCA experience wonderful and meaningful, alongside my fellow squadmates
and teacher officers.”
