National Civil Defence Cadet Corps (NCDCC)

National Civil Defence Cadets Corps (NCDCC) is one of the youngest Uniformed Groups in Singapore as well as in Presbyterian High School. Despite being young, NCDCC has carried tremendous responsibility and has displayed commendable spirit in its contributions to the school. Each cadet carries himself / herself with pride and this is further demonstrated every time they are called to duty. Each week, cadets learn and execute new and essential skills. Being a unit which is small in number, the cadets soon realise that each will be call upon to lead and is expected to lead with excellence just as the seniors have done so. The cadets share a close bond as they train hard and grow together as a team.

“The National Civil Defence Cadet Corps (NCDCC) has taken a big step in 2017, by initiating many changes which benefit the cadets. One such is the change of the Senior Non-Commissioned Officer course to the Specialisation Courses. There are three different Specialisation Courses: Fire Safety, Medical Response and the Urban Search and Rescue Course. These new specialisation courses are more laden with facts and require cadets to be thoroughly tested before they are accredited for completing the course.”

“NCDCC has offered Ernest, Dhaniz and I the chance to participate in the 2017 National Day Parade as part of the NCDCC contingent. The experience was truly one to be treasured. Despite the scorching sun, we have forged stronger bonds with our squad mates and made new friends with cadets from other schools. Thank you NCDCC, for the experience, memories and friends that I now have through the opportunities you have given me.”

“The falconite challenge was an event organised by the Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) where NCDCC units from the north division come together and compete. I participated in a competition where I have learnt more skills and gained better understanding of the NCDCC. Through the competition, I got to know my batch mates and seniors better. We also discovered our own mental and physical abilities, and our ability to think critically. Along with Yi En, Dylan, Zhi Yi, Ernest and Mabel, we were delighted to win the competition.”

“The treetop walk at MacRitchie Reservoir, organised by the teachers-in-charge, was a great experience as I was able to bond with my other CCA mates and get to know more about them. We encouraged one another to keep going even though many of us were very tired towards the end of the walk. Overall, I had a great time with all the other cadets during the treetop walk and it is something we look forward to every year.”
