DSA Uniformed Groups
DIRECT SCHOOL ADMISSION (DSA) EXERCISE 2019
Uniformed Groups play a vital role in developing student leaders. Through a variety of indoor and outdoor programmes, cadets are able to discover and develop their leadership skills, talent and abilities.
Presbyterian High School provides cadets multiple opportunities for a balanced, broad-based education programme that aims to groom cadets into resourceful, disciplined and resilient individuals capable of serving the school and the communities.
PHS offers the following Uniformed Groups:
- Boys’ Brigade
- Girls’ Brigade
- National Cadet Corps (Sea)
- National Civil Defence Cadet Corps
- National Police Cadet Corps
Students must have assumed leadership roles, preferably in a Uniformed Group in the primary schools.
Students must attain at least a Bronze award in their latest NAPFA test and be medically fit for outdoor activities.
Students should possess a positive attitude and a sense of commitment, as described by their primary school peers and/or teachers
*Note: Students need not be in a UG-CCA in their primary school to apply for DSA through UG.
From 2019, application for DSA-Sec can be submitted through the online DSA-Sec Portal. The application is free-of-charge and will be open from 8 May to 4 Jun 2019. For more details, please refer to MOE website – www.moe.gov.sg/admissions/direct-admissions/dsa-sec.

Parents and students are encouraged to choose schools wisely based on the student’s aptitudes and strengths, bearing in mind the schools’ academic and non-academic requirements, and the programmes available to develop the area of talent.
All interested applicants are required to attend our 'UG Experience' cum Selection Trial at Presbyterian High School. The details:
Date: 1 July to 30 August 2019 (Only on Saturdays)
Time: 8.30am - 11.00am
Attire: School PE attire, bring along your water bottle
Registration: From 8.30am, at the PHS Canteen
Attendance is compulsory for DSA-UG applicants.
The selection trial includes situational test, physical test and interview.
General Ability Test (GAT) and Higher Ability Selection Test (HAST) will not be included in our selection process.

1. Who can apply for DSA?
All Primary 6 students who meet the selection criteria.
2. How do I apply?
Application for DSA-Sec can be submitted through the online DSA-Sec Portal. The application is free-of-charge and will be open from 8 May to 4 Jun 2019. For more details, please refer to MOE website – www.moe.gov.sg/admissions/direct-admissions/dsa-sec.
3. Are there any specific selection criteria?
The applicant must be in a leadership position (prefect, monitor, captain of team, squad leader etc) in his/her primary school and has achieved at least a Bronze Award in his/her most recent NAPFA test.
4. When and how will I know the results of my application?
All applicants will be informed of the results of their application by post. See Timeline for details.
5. What is the frequency and duration of UG training?
UG training is conducted once a week for 4 hours. However, some UGs conduct more training sessions. Training hours will increase during competition periods.
6. Will my child be allowed to choose the UG he/she wants to join?
Yes, however, if we find that he/she is more suited to a particular UG after the interview and situational test, we will advise him/her accordingly.
7. My child is not in a MOE school. What is the application procedure?
Any child not in MOE schools will require a letter issued by MOE HQ at the MOE Customer Service Centre. The letter contains a Registration Number, which he/she can use to apply for the DSA.
