DIRECT SCHOOL ADMISSION (DSA) EXERCISE 2022

The Guzheng Ensemble and Concert Band are well-established Performing Arts Groups in Presbyterian High School. Members demonstrate outstanding artistic accomplishments and have excelled at the Singapore Youth Festival Presentation.

The training programmes are carefully planned for optimal implementation to achieve the highest level of musicianship. The CCAs develop student leaders who live out the school values such as Integrity, Respect, Responsibility Resilience and Empathy. The school provides members with multiple opportunities to pursue their passion and contribute to the school and community through their creativity and artistic talents.

DSA EXPECTATION
Students who are successfully admitted to the school via DSA are expected to honour their commitment to the school, and participate in the activities related to the talent they are selected for from year 1 to 4.

SELECTION CRITERIA

CCA ACHIEVEMENT
Students should have participated in the CCA applied for in their primary school and have a strong aesthetics background and interest in music.

MUSIC BACKGROUND
Students should preferably possess certificates for practical skills from Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music (ABRSM), Trinity College or Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts (NAFA), other recognised examining boards in a concert band or guzheng instrument preferably woodwind, brass, percussion and string bass or drums.

CHARACTER
Students should possess a positive attitude and a sense of commitment, as described by their primary school instructor and teachers.

APPLICATION PROCEDURE
Parents and students are encouraged to choose schools wisely based on the student’s aptitude and strengths, bearing in mind the schools’ academic and non-academic requirements, and the programmes available to develop the area of talent.
Application for DSA-Sec must be submitted through the online DSA-Sec Portal. The application is free-of-charge and will be open from 5 May 2022, 11am to 1 Jun 2022, 3pm. For more details, please refer to MOE website – www.moe.gov.sg/dsa-sec

SELECTION DETAILS

Shortlisted candidates will be informed by 8 July to attend an audition and interview scheduled between 1 July and 31 August 2022 at Presbyterian High School.

Attendance is compulsory for shortlisted candidates.

All auditions and interviews will be done in person.

General Ability Test (GAT) and Higher Ability Selection Test (HAST) will not be included in our selection process.
All applicants will be notified of results of application by email. Please see Timeline.
Please note that meeting all the criteria does not guarantee the student will be shortlisted/given an offer.
The selection criteria and process for the talent areas will be updated by early Jun. For more information on DSA-Sec, please refer to the MOE website at https://www.moe.gov.sg/dsa-sec
Students successfully allocated to their DSA-Sec schools will NOT be allowed to participate in the annual S1 Posting to opt for secondary schools , and are expected to honour the commitment to the allocated DSA-Sec school for the entire duration of the programme.
They will also NOT be allowed to transfer to another school after the release of the PSLE results.
