DSA Performing Arts (GUZHENG AND SYMPHONIC BAND)
DIRECT SCHOOL ADMISSION (DSA) EXERCISE 2020
The Guzheng Ensemble
and Symphonic Band are well-established Performing Arts Groups in Presbyterian
High School. Members demonstrate outstanding artistic accomplishments and have excelled
at the Singapore Youth Festival Presentation.
The training
programmes are carefully planned for optimal implementation to achieve the
highest level of musicianship. The CCAs develop student leaders who live out
the school values such as Integrity, Respect, Responsibility Resilience and Empathy.
The school provides members with multiple opportunities to pursue their passion
and contribute to the school and community through their creativity and
artistic talents.
SELECTION
CRITERIA
CCA
ACHIEVEMENT
Students should
have participated in the CCA applied for in their primary school and have a
strong aesthetics background and interest in music.
MUSIC
BACKGROUND
Students should
preferably possess certificates for practical skills from Associated Board of
the Royal Schools of Music (ABRSM), Trinity College or other recognised
examining boards in a symphonic band instrument preferably woodwind, brass,
percussion and string bass or guzheng.
CHARACTER
Students should
possess a positive attitude and a sense of commitment, as described by their
primary school instructor and teachers.

From 2020,
application for DSA-Sec can be submitted through the online DSA-Sec Portal. For

3. When and how will I know the results of my
application?
All applicants will be informed of the
results of their application by post.
4. What is the frequency and duration of training?
Training is
conducted usually twice a week for 3 hours. However, training
hours will
increase during competition or concert periods.
5. My child is not in a MOE school. What is the
application procedure?
Any child not in MOE schools will require a letter issued
by MOE HQ at the
MOE Customer Service Centre. The letter contains a
Registration Number,
which he/she can use to apply for the DSA.
6. How DSA-Sec selection
will be carried out this year?
